Agenda for May 9 2025 COP event

As we approach COP30 the EEAC’s Climate and Energy Working Group hosts an event offering an opportunity to listen to and discuss with two experts.

Professor Charlotte Streck, co-founder and partner of Climate Focus, will elaborate on lessons learnt from comparing the Paris Agreement and the Global Biodiversity Framework, including how the accords complement each other. She will also touch upon the reasons for the lack of progress on finance for biodiversity by speaking about the implementation of international financing instrument, the CBD’s new landmark fund.

The biodiversity regime suffers from the similar ills as the climate regime. Therefore, Dr Pieter Pauw, Research Associate at the Clingendael Institute, and expert on climate finance, will shed light on predictions for COP30 and the reasons for stagnation or success in certain cases. He has published papers among others on Options to Broaden the Climate Finance Provider and Adaption finance gap.

The first part of the session is open to the public. Sign up with this link.

The second part of the session, 11:00 CET onwards, is closed to the public to discuss Working Group internal matters.
